Do-it-yourself justice in the violent and insecure world of Batman, a mirror of society, or law in the magical world of Harry Potter: contemporary mythologies tell much about the real world and propose stories with legal and political implications that enter and remain in the collective imagination. Dialoguing on the issues of law, justice and inclusion in contemporary society from the forms of pop culture that operate simultaneously as lamps and mirrors-reflecting the opinions of most people and, at the same time, illuminating them-is the goal of a program of meetings that the Maria Eletta Martini Research Center (Centro di Ricerca Maria Eletta Martini) has organized in three secondary schools in Lucca and its province.

The initiative was built with the collaboration of the Foundation for Social Cohesion (which is one of the founding entities of the Research Center dedicated to Maria Eletta Martini together with the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca and the Sant'Anna School). The title is "Lamps and Mirrors. Pop Culture, Society and Law" and includes meetings in November and December 2023 at the "Passaglia" High School of Art and Music in Lucca, the "Paladini" High School of Human Sciences (Machiavelli Institute) and the "Majorana" High School of Science in Capannori. The first event is for Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Liceo Artistico in Lucca. It counts on the collaboration of Lucca Crea, organizer of Lucca Comics & Games 2023, crossroads of these new forms of storytelling and "factory" where contemporary mythologies meet and dialogue.

Conducting the meetings, which are reserved for students and carried out with interactive methods and the use of multimedia supports, will be Giuseppe Martinico (Full Professor Comparative Public Law at the Dirpolis Institute _ Law, Politics, Development_ of the Sant'Anna School), Paolo Addis (PhD in Public and Economic Law at the University of Pisa and coordinator of the Maria Eletta Martini Research Center) and Silvia Filippi (PhD in Legal Sciences, research fellow at the University of Perugia).
